Shyam Raj Kharel, known as Sam to his clients, is a licensed trekking guide from Kavrepalanchok, Nepal. Sam developed an interest in trekking and began working in the tourism industry since 2014. Since then, trekking has become more than a profession for him. Being in nature and spending time in the mountains is what keeps him motivated and connected to his work.

Sam has experience guiding on a variety of trekking routes, including Manaslu Circuit Trek, Ghorepani Poon Hill, Annapurna Base Camp, Mardi Himal, Annapurna Circuit, and Makalu. His experience ranges from popular trekking routes to more remote Himalayan trails, giving him an understanding of different landscapes, cultures, and trekking conditions.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is Sam’s favorite route. He enjoys its off-the-beaten-path character, quieter trails, traditional mountain villages, and the opportunity to experience a less crowded side of the Himalayas. The changing landscapes and close connection with local communities make the region especially enjoyable for him.

Sam is fluent in English and places strong importance on clear communication with his guests. He believes understanding what clients need, keeping them informed, and maintaining a positive relationship throughout the trek are essential to a successful journey. His goal is to help every guest complete their trek successfully while enjoying the experience along the way.

He is a licensed trekking guide and first-aid trained, with practical experience that helps him look after clients on the trail. Friendly and communicative, Sam enjoys sharing his love of Nepal’s mountains and nature with travelers from around the world.
