Rajendra Neupane

Rajendra Neupane, known as Raj to his guests, is one of Ace the Himalaya’s most experienced and senior trekking guides. With more than 21 years in Nepal’s trekking industry and around 19 years with Ace the Himalaya, he has been part of the company’s journey from its early days.

Raj started his tourism career as a porter, working with Prem Khatri. In the early days of Ace, he also supported the office as an office assistant, helping with day-to-day administrative work before building his career as a trekking guide.

Originally from Gorkha, Raj has spent more than two decades exploring Nepal’s mountains and trekking routes. His experience covers almost every major trekking region, including Everest, Manaslu, Annapurna, Kanchenjunga, Rolwaling, Upper Dolpo, and Mustang, along with many remote areas of Nepal. 

The Everest Base Camp Trek is Raj’s favorite journey, and his experience on the route is exceptional. He has guided the Everest Base Camp trail more than 200 times, giving him an in-depth understanding of the route, its changing conditions, villages, and high-altitude environment. His repeated experience on the trail also helps him remain calm and make practical decisions when unexpected situations arise in the mountains.

Raj’s dedication and performance have also been recognized by Ace the Himalaya, where he has been honored as Guide of the Year 2024 for his excellence and contribution. He speaks English and Hindi and enjoys meeting travelers from different countries and sharing Nepal’s culture, traditions, and way of life with them.

Raj is licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, Nepal, and has completed professional trekking guide training and first aid training. His qualifications, combined with more than two decades of experience in the mountains, help him provide informed and responsible guidance throughout a trek.

For him, being in the mountains and connecting with people from different cultures is what keeps him passionate about guiding. He believes that mental preparation, physical readiness, passion, and dedication all play an important role in completing a trek successfully. Raj is also comfortable with camping and remote trekking, where his practical mountain skills become especially valuable. He enjoys cooking during camping trips and is known for preparing tasty meals for his guests, adding a personal touch to the experience.

After more than two decades in the mountains, Raj still feels most at home on the trails. His extensive experience, practical knowledge, cultural understanding, and genuine care for his clients make him a trusted guide for travelers looking to explore Nepal’s Himalayas with confidence.
