I did the Everest Base Camp 14 day trek with Ace. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. Pasang, my guide was incredibly patient and knowledgeable. If he tells you maybe you should wear your wind jacket, wear your wind jacket!!! I always had a million questions, most of which he’d answered 12 times already, but he was always very patient and kind. At one point I was feeling the altitude quite a bit and he said he’d push me up to EBC if he had to. Very luckily for all of us, I got there on my own 2 feet. In all seriousness, Pasang was absolutely professional and I felt 100% safe at all times. He was kind and knowledgeable and super encouraging – those climbs are pretty serious!
Lahkpa was the porter and it’s possible I’ve never met a kinder man. He always had an eye on me and my things (I can be a tad disorganized) and between him and Pasang there was no way I was leaving my poles or water bottle or anything anywhere. Lahkpa always had an eye on me and was ready to jump up and help however he could.
I think that the guide and porter really make or break the trip and I definitely lucked out. I was in very good hands and enjoyed their company the entire trek.
In terms of the trip itself, it’s totally doable if you take your time. It is a difficult trek so a good amount of advanced time hiking will without a doubt make the experience more enjoyable. Bring all the layers on the equipment list and be sure they are wool, down, synthetic, etc. I saw people with thin cotton socks and they were freezing. It does get cold up there!!!
Arriving to base camp was thrilling to be sure, but for me the best parts happened along the trail. You will be awe struck by vistas and yaks and suspension bridges and stupas and little villages time after time.
Sujan was always very quick to respond to emails when I was preparing to come. Really all I had to do was show up and walk. Everyone at Ace was a complete professional. I hope to come back and I will definitely book with Ace again. Don’t hesitate, you’ll be in great hands!
