Trip Highlight
Mount Kailash (6,714m) is a very popular holy mountain in Tibet and is also known by the name of Tise, Kailash or Kang Rinpoche (Jewel of the Snows). Mt Meru (Kailash) is sacred to the Hindus, Buddhists, Janis, and the Bonpos taken as the centre of the physical and metaphysical universe. For the Hindus, the mountain represents the seat of Shiva. For the Buddhists, a terrestrial projection of the cosmic mandala of Dyani Buddhas and Boddhisatvas (which represents the Wheel of Life).
For the devout pilgrim, a visit to Mt. Kailash and Lake Mansarovar forms the ultimate realization of their spiritual pursuit, and for the adventure-lovers it offers rugged beauty, remoteness and solitude. If you tour to Mount Kailash during the month of May it gives you the opportunity to witness the Buddhist festival of Saga Dawa while most of the other trips are planned to arrive at Mt. Kailash during the full moon period to give all participants a rare experience.
This tour offers rigorous overland driving, trekking and camping, passing the remote and wild western Tibet, in altitudes between 2,745m to 5,600m.
Itinerary Overview
- Day 01 - Arrival at the Tribuwan International Airport in Kathmandu (1,345m). Overnight at a hotel.
- Day 02 - Pre-trip meeting and sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley. Overnight at a hotel.
- Day 03 - Kathmandu to Kodari (114 km, 5 hrs) and cross Border then drive to Nyalam-3750m (32 km, 1 hr). Overnight at a guesthouse.
- Day 04 - Acclimatization day at Nyalam. Overnight at a guesthouse.
- Day 05 - Drive from Nyalam to New Dongba(4500m), 357 km, 6 hrs. Overnight at a guesthouse.
- Day 06 - Drive from New Dongba to Lake Mansarovar (Hor Chu) 4500 m, 369 km, 6 hrs. Overnight at a guesthouse.
- Day 07 - Lake Mansarovar parikrama by Jeep (88 km, 1.5 hrs) and then drive to Darchen, 88 km. Overnight at a guesthouse.
- Day 08 - Start parikrama to Deraphuk (4920 m), 5 hrs trek. Overnight at a guesthouse.
- Day 09 - Trek Shivasthal-Gaurikunda-Zutulphuk (4820 m)- 9 hrs. Overnight at a guesthouse.
- Day 10 - End of Trek and then Drive to Manasarovar, 3 hrs trek and 1 hr drive. Overnight at a guesthouse.
- Day 11 - Return back to New Dongba, 6 hrs drive. Overnight at a guesthouse.
- Day 12 - Return back to Nyalam, 6 hrs drive. Overnight at a guesthouse.
- Day 13 - Return back to Kathmandu, 4 to 5 hrs drive. Overnight at Hotel.
- Day 14 - Leisure day in Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel.
- Day 15 - Transfer to the airport for your final flight departure.

On adventure trips of this type, weather, local politics, transport or a multitude of other factors beyond our control can result in a change of itinerary. It is, however, very unlikely that the itinerary would be substantially altered; if alterations are necessary the leader will decide what is the best alternative, taking into consideration the best interests of the whole group. Where a change does occur, we do everything we can to minimize its effect, but we cannot be responsible for the results of changes or delays.
Important Note
- If group decided to come back earlier from Kailash, there won't be any refund OR adjustment from our company. Since, we don't get any adjustment OR refund from the Chinese government, we won't be able to refund you.
- Extra night accommodation in Kathmandu, in case of your early return from Kailash, will be extra. Our package price covers only four nights Hotel in Kathmandu.
- If someone got sick while on the way to Kailash/Manasarovar, depending on his/her sickness level, it is our right to make decision whether to let him/her travel continue OR send him/her back to Kathmandu. We don't like to put passenger's life in risk, also we don't want the whole trip to be ruined because of one person.
- If somebody returns back earlier due to high altitude sickness OR any other reason, he/she should pay for extra expenses that occur while returning. Extra expenses, such as additional transport, group visa splitting charge, extra hotel night on the way & in Kathmandu and medical expenses should be paid by client.
- If somebody wants to make parikrama on horse, he/she should book horse at least a day in advance. Our Chinese guide will help you in this matter and he needs enough time to manage horse. During the busy season, there will be high demand of horse, so there can be shortage of horses as well, so your early decision is very important. The charge of horse is not fixed. The more demand, the higher price. But price is same whether you use for one day OR 3 days. One horse can be used by one person only. If you booked the horse & paid money, but later on you changed your mind and decided not to take it, in this case, you will not get refund. This is the rule of local community who provide horses.
- Our Chinese guide will help you to organize horse/s & porter/s, but the price and regulation of local people is beyond our control. So, our company will not take any responsibility about the price and refund matter. If any issue happened regarding the price and refund matter, you have to solve this matter there in coordination with our Chinese guide.
